Prosecutors of international courts

This week’s “Clip of the Week” is the speech from the current chief prosecutor at the International Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, Serge Brammertz, held at a conference entitled “2nd Annual International Humanitarian Law Dialogs” on 25-26 August 2008. The conference was co-sponsored by the Robert H. Jackson Center. The event saw the gathering of nine prosecutors from the Nuremberg trials and some of the most important international courts today:

  • Henry T. King, Jr., IMT & United States Military Tribunals, Nuremberg
  • Benjamin B. Ferencz, United States Military Tribunals, Nuremberg
  • Serge Brammertz, International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia
  • Hassan Jallow, International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda
  • David M. Crane, Special Court for Sierra Leone
  • Stephen Rapp, Special Court for Sierra Leone
  • Fatou Bensouda, International Criminal Court
  • Robert Petit, Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia 

Besides the speech of Serge Brammertz, the presentations of Robert Petit (on the the status of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia and the trials against former leaders of the Khmer Rouge), Stephen J Rapp (on the Special Court for Sierra Leone and the status of the Charles Taylor trial), Hassan Jallow (on the status of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda), and Fatou Bensouda (part 1 and part 2; on the current activities of the International Criminal Court as it relates to the Darfur region of Sudan) have also been uploaded on YouTube.
